PHOTO 101: Wedding Photography Mistake #9

At practically every wedding I shoot, my clients and guests ask me if I want some champaign. My reply: a drunken photographer is not really the best photographer. A friend of mine hired one of the best wedding photographers in the nation (no joke, if you know anyone in the business you will know this guy but I won't mention his name out of respect.) They hired him because they are good friends and wouldn't think of having anyone else shoot their big day. Side note: the couple are wedding photogs too. Sadly, the person they hired knew too many people at the wedding and socialized way too much causing him to miss most of the great shots. The couple was devastated and sadly learned a valuable lesson: Don’t hire friends and don’t hire a partier. If you are a photographer, you might want to remember if you shoot a friends wedding it is your job to work even harder at getting great shots. Be above reproach. You do not want to be anther statistic in wedding photography blunders.
