PHOTO 101: Macro

I love love love macro shots! I think most people do because they can be so beautiful and full of wonder and awe: things we wouldn't otherwise be able to see. I borrowed one of my assistant's lenses from last night's event that is a pretty great find. It is a Sigma 50mm 1 to 1 macro which means you can get really (I mean really) close. I took the above shot as a test at the end of the night of a flower on one of the center pieces. It was shot at f2.8 with a Canon 580EXII flash that was positioned to the right of the flower. The flash was set at ETTL with a +2/3 power compensation. I used an omnibounce flash head diffuser at a 45 degree angle.
