Jacob: Almost One and Finally Walking

We have been counting down the days to Jacob's first birthday. He has been walking around holding on to things for about 2 months. On Thanksgiving he stood for the first time unassisted for a full 30 seconds. Over the past two weeks he has been taking one or two steps from one object to another, sort of "falling" towards his destination. We didn't quite think that was considered his first steps. We decided it had to be walking unassisted towards nothing. Well, on December 21st, he did just that. I was at church in the nursery when I saw him stand up and walk straight into the middle of the room. He took about 4 steps and then fell down. It was GREAT! Then, when we got home, he walked the entire length of our bathroom before he fell. This is about 9 feet in length. So, there you have it: Jacob's first steps. Too bad I didn't have the camera ready!
