Flintridge Preparatory School

When I shoot weddings, I often have a photo booth set up and operated by one of my assistants. I usually do the set up and then let them shoot away. The sad thing is, my assistants usually fight over who gets to NOT shoot the booth because they would rather shoot candids, or maybe it is too boring or too much pressure to do the booth. I, on the other hand, would love to shoot the booth. It can be so much fun and is always very interactive and organic if you take your camera off the tripod. I set up a photo booth at Flintridge Preparatory School in La Canada for the Seniors. The photos will go in their yearbook as a tradition I started last year for a large double page gate fold. It is something I have done with several schools dating back to LACHSA (Los Angeles County High School for the Arts) in 1999. I'll have to pull up some of those old photos from the archives. Anyhow, here is how I approach the "booth." I wish my assistants would learn to embrace the possibilities. Maybe next time, I will take some time out during dinner at a wedding to get some shots in. We'll see...
